17-06-1974 sank in Pos.54.28,42 N 11.49,36 E/Fehmarn Belt after collision with German MV “Marlies” in dense fog, the ship was traveling from Vestervik to Nieupoort in ballast (other reports say, a cargo of scrap metal). The captain would not leave the sinking ship and drowned.

**04-02-2011 The “Nordland 1″ grounded in stormy weather on Borkum beach, North sea, Germany, in the night of Feb 4, 2011. The rescue boat “Alfried Krupp” was on scene and launched, as he was not able to reach the grounding site due to the shallow water, its small boat, the “Glückauf”, and also the tug “Waterstroom” meanwhile arrived.

As of Feb 5 vessel remains stuck at the sea promenade of Borkum. An attempt of the “Alfried Krupp” at 11 p.m. to refloat the ship failed. The tug which had been called from Eemshaven had to cancel its attempts too. The strong wind kept the water from rising high enough for a successful refloating attempt.
